Grasshoppers are a type of insect that can be found in many parts of the world. They live in open grassy areas and in some cases, in forests and even desert areas. They are of the order Orthoptera and their species has a wide variety of sizes, shapes and colors. They famously have long hind legs that they use to hop and they also have wings which allow them to fly. Grasshoppers are generally nocturnal and are active more at night.

Grasshoppers feed on vegetation, other insects and some species will even eat other grasshoppers.
