Yadkin Mineral Springs is a historic site located near Wilson, North Carolina. The springs were discovered in 1731 and soon became popular for their healing qualities. Beneficial sulfur-containing waters were used to treat a variety of ailments including skin disorders, liver and kidney ailments, and even malaria. The springs were so popular that by 1839, the local government deemed them a proper health spa and made them available to the public. Sadly, the popularity of the springs declined over the years and the waters were eventually claimed by nature. Today, Yadkin Mineral Springs remains a historically significant area and its waters are still used for therapeutic purposes.
