A journeyman is a skilled worker who has completed an apprenticeship and is fully trained in a trade. They are generally able to do most tasks in a specified trade and often act as mentors to apprentices in the trade. In modern times, Journeymen are often seen in the building trades and in manufacturing trades, including machinists and electrical workers.

In earlier times, journeymen were able to travel and work in different areas, thus earning the name journeymen. As they moved, they were able to learn other trades and increase their skill sets. They would often return to their hometown to practice the new trades.
