"EDT" in context
EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) is the current time of the Eastern Time Zone, which is in effect for the United States and some parts of Canada during the summer months of April to October. During this period, the time is three hours earlier than the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). EDT is the same as Eastern Standard Time (EST) during the winter months of November to March, except during the spring and autumn months when it is an hour earlier. It is also one of the four primary time zones in use in North America.
