"Hare" in context
The hare is a mammal found in various regions around the world. It is known for its large ears and long hind legs, which it uses to propel itself across land at astonishing speeds. Hares have a wide range of habitats from temperate grasslands and deserts, to wetlands, forests and mountains. They feed on grasses, herbs, berries, leaves and other vegetation. Some species of hare also eat small insects and even some carrion. Although they are largely solitary animals, during mating season males and females form temporary pairs in order to reproduce.
