"Hull" in context
Hull is a city and unitary authority area, located in the ceremonial county of East Riding in the region of Yorkshire and the Humber in England. It is a port located on the River Hull, at the estuary of the Humber, 25 miles (40 km) east of Leeds and 30 miles (48 km) southwest of York. Hull has a long and rich history dating back over 700 years, and has seen much development over the years. It was an important medieval trading port and has since become a major cultural and educational centre, with two universities, the University of Hull and the University of Lincoln.
